अयि गिरिनन्दिनि नन्दितमेदिनि विश्वविनोदिनि नन्दनुते गिरिवरविन्ध्यशिरोऽधिनिवासिनि विष्णुविलासिनि जिष्णुनुते । भगवति हे शितिकण्ठकुटुम्बिनि भूरिकुटुम्बिनि भूरिकृते जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥

Transliteration

Ayi Giri Nandini Nandita Medini Viśva Vinodini Nandanute Girivara Vindhya Śiro'dhi Nivāsini Viṣṇu Vilāsini Jiṣṇunute | Bhagavati He Śiti Kaṇṭha Kuṭumbini Bhūri Kuṭumbini Bhūri Kṛte Jaya Jaya He Mahiṣāsura Mardini Ramya Kapardini Śaila Sute ||

Meaning

O daughter of the mountain, who brings joy to the earth and delight to the universe, praised by Nanda; O dweller on the peaks of the great Vindhya, you who sport with Vishnu and are praised by Vishnu; O Goddess, O wife of the blue-throated Shiva, mother of many children, the cause of all abundance — Victory, victory to you, O slayer of Mahishasura, O beautiful one with matted locks, O daughter of the mountain!

सुरवरवर्षिणि दुर्धरधर्षिणि रामभगिनि शरभसुते त्रिभुवनपोषिणि शङ्करतोषिणि किल्बिषमोषिणि घोषरते । दनुजनिरोषिणि दितिसुतरोषिणि दुर्मदशोषिणि सिन्धुसुते जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥

Transliteration

Suravara Varṣiṇi Durdharadharṣiṇi Rāma Bhagini Śarabha Sute Tribhuvana Poṣiṇi Śankara Toṣiṇi Kilbiṣa Moṣiṇi Ghoṣa Rate | Dānuja Niroṣiṇi Diti Suta Roṣiṇi Durmada Śoṣiṇi Sindhu Sute Jaya Jaya He Mahiṣāsura Mardini Ramya Kapardini Śaila Sute ||

Meaning

You shower blessings on the foremost of gods, you are invincible in battle, sister of Rama, daughter of the Sharaba; you nourish the three worlds, you delight Shankara, you steal away sins, you rejoice in great noise; you pacify the wrath of demons, you rouse fury against the sons of Diti, you dry up the excessive pride of the wicked — Victory, victory to you, O slayer of Mahishasura, O beautiful one with matted locks, O daughter of the mountain!

निजगुणभूषणभूषितभाषिणि लघुलघुलावण्यलक्षितकान्तिमये निजरुचिकुञ्जरकुञ्जरराजिनि जयजयकारकराव्यपरागरते । रिपुगणगर्वगलद्गलघातिनि मुरमथनामरमन्त्रहरे जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥

Meaning

You speak adorned with the ornaments of your own qualities, O you who are resplendent with a beauty that seems delicate yet irresistible; you reign among the groves of your own delight, O slayer of Mura, you who bear the mantra of the immortals; you cut the swelling throats of the arrogant host of enemies — Victory, victory to you, O slayer of Mahishasura, O beautiful one with matted locks, O daughter of the mountain!

शरणागतवैरिवधूवरवीरवराभयदायिकरे त्रिभुवनमस्तकशूलविरोधिशिरोऽधिकृतामलशूलकरे । दुमिदुमितामरदुन्दुभिनादमहोमुखरीकृतदिगन्तकरे जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥

O you who grant fearlessness and boons to those who take refuge in you, even the valiant wives and heroes of the enemy; you hold in your hand a pure trident that struck off the heads of enemies who opposed the three worlds; you filled all directions with a great noise, the drum-sound dum-dum of the divine kettledrum — Victory, victory to you, O slayer of Mahishasura, O beautiful one with matted locks, O daughter of the mountain!
